Social Media Strategist
Role & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a creative and analytical Social Media Strategist to join our team.
As a Social Media Strategist, you'll be the architect of our digital presence, crafting and executing comprehensive strategies across a multitude of platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and TikTok. Your role encompasses both organic and paid campaigns, as well as community management, traditional advertising, and special projects. You'll distill creative ideas and data-driven insights into actionable recommendations, pitching original content concepts that resonate with our target audiences. Collaboration is key as you work closely with internal teams to establish campaign goals, tonality, and KPIs, leading strategy sessions and contributing to team meetings regularly. Your adeptness at multitasking and staying ahead of industry trends will be fundamental as you navigate the ever-evolving landscape of social media.
Content management will be at the core of your responsibilities, as you create and oversee content calendars aligned with business objectives, ensuring timely and engaging posts across platforms. Leveraging project management tools and social listening technologies, you'll manage multiple projects seamlessly while monitoring social channels to respond promptly to inquiries and comments. Additionally, your role extends to content creation, where you'll lead the development of strategy plans, produce compelling copy, and occasionally engage in basic content production. Reporting and analysis will also be a focal point, as you monitor campaign performance, provide insightful reports to clients and colleagues, and translate data into actionable strategies for ongoing success. Staying informed about industry trends and cultural events will further enrich your role, allowing you to provide clients with the latest and most effective solutions in the dynamic worlds of contemporary art and social media.
Content Strategy and Planning
- Propose, develop, and implement digital strategies through organic and paid campaigns, primarily via Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and TikTok, as well as through community management and special projects.
- Produce writing that distills creative ideas, strategy, and data-driven insights into actionable, clear recommendations.
- Pitch creative ideas for original content for organic campaigns, artist commissions, short-form and premium video, paid ads, editorial, and sponsored content.
- Inform campaign tonality by identifying the right TOV and style across platforms for target audiences.
- Work with internal teams to establish campaign tonality, goals and KPIs.
- Regularly lead strategy sessions and actively participate in team meetings.
Content Management
- Create and own a 30/60/90 day content calendars across platforms that align with business and/or marketing objectives.
- Organize, prioritize, and schedule social content calendars, including real-time or manual posts.
- Leverage project management and social listening tools to manage multiple projects simultaneously and seamlessly.
- Monitor social channels, and respond to questions and comments in a timely manner.
- Assist with website updates as needed.
Content Creation
- Lead the development of strategy plans and decks, including copywriting and formatting data in visually compelling, clear ways (charts, graphs, etc).
- Support Account Executives in coordinating with various internal departments, including creative, strategy, design, development, accounts, and executive teams, to meet client objectives.
- Engage in basic content production via templates and in-platform video and photo editing.
- Generate compelling iPhone photo/video and AI-created assets.
- Occasionally write and edit copy for social posts.
Reporting and Analysis
- Monitor and optimize social campaigns and digital projects via in-platform tools (ie Meta Business Suite), Sprout Social, and Google Analytics.
- Provide clients and colleagues with performance reports, highlighting key metrics and insights across organic and paid campaigns.
- Translate data into actionable insights. Analyze campaign results and work with clients to iterate and optimize strategies for ongoing success.
Industry Trends
- Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and changes in social media algorithms to provide clients with the latest and most effective solutions.
- Maintain awareness of global cultural calendar with an emphasis on major art world events.
Requirements
- Advanced user familiarity with all leading social media platforms.
- 3-5 years of experience in digital and social media/digital strategy in an agency or client setting with 100K+ followers or demonstrated significant account growth.
- Creative, detail-oriented, and highly organized with ability to meet daily deadlines.
- Excellent writing skills, including client-facing strategy language, case studies, insights, and social copy.
- Expertise in "media math" and digital media buying/acquisition models (ie. CPA, CPC, CPM and CPE)
- Strong analytical skills with high proficiency with social listening tools and Microsoft Excel; experience with Google Workspace, including Google Slides, and familiarity with project management tools such as Notion or Asana.
- Experience with commissioning artists and influencer marketing is a plus.
- Open to semi-regular on-site work to develop and capture content.
This is a full-time, exempt position. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience and performance. The annual salary range is $60,000-$150,000.
This position is a hybrid role, reporting three days per week into our headquarters in Lower Manhattan.
