Copywriter & Editorial Assistant (Art & Culture for Social/Digital)

Digital Counsel is looking for a copywriter with a strong grasp of the language and energy of the contemporary art world—someone who can translate complex ideas into clear, concise, engaging, and culturally fluent content across digital platforms.

Research and clarity are at the core of your process; you know how to make new and innovative concepts feel immediate, relevant, and shareable across diverse audiences. Ability to tailor language, word count, and tone for institutional, public, or social contexts is essential.

One day you might be synthesizing the themes of a major video art exhibition into a clear, compelling 500-word feature, the next drafting an IG Reel script for the opening of a major international biennial, composing an op-ed in collaboration with a leading curator, or ghostwriting a Substack exploring the impact of public art. Meanwhile, you'll keep tabs on various social campaigns and articles in production, communicating status and feedback to key stakeholders in real-time.

You'll work closely with our accounts and creative teams—collaborating with designers, strategists, and an Editor. Your primary focus will be the development of messaging, copy, and tone of voice for cross-channel content to support broader communications goals. In addition, you will coordinate the production of editorial articles, including contributing to pitch meetings, commissioning external writers and critics, editing, and project managing drafts through publication on web and social. This role requires versatility and exactness: from quick-turn social captions and email newsletters to copy within visual assets, digital ads, Q&As, coordinating multiple editorial projects at once, and more.

We are open to both part- and full-time candidates for a contract role, with a trial period arranged before a potential transition into a full-benefits position beginning January 1, 2026. Salary range is $54,000 - $72,000 based on experience and schedule.
